Hola, my name is Miriam Odili Santizo Alvarez. I am originally from Sololá, well known for having the most beautiful lake in the country, Lake Atitlán.
I am sixty-one years old, and I am married to Mario Vinicio Mazariegos Pérez. We have three adult children of forty, thirty-seven and thirty-two years old. We also have four grandchildren. Oldest to youngest, they are nineteen, sixteen and twelve years old.
I have been a Spanish teacher for forty years, and for twenty years I have received guests in my home here in Antigua. I love having contact with people from other countries, sharing my culture and learning about their culture.
My house has two levels. My in-laws, who are retired, live on the ground floor and lead a very quiet life. My in-laws' names are Doña Vicky and Don Mario. My husband, my daughter, my 19-year-old grandson and I live on the second level.
My husband has a small coffee farm, but he no longer works there. He helps me at home with the guests and the chores. My daughter works at the Nestlé company in the engineering area, and my grandson studies architecture at the university.
For my guests I offer two rooms with private bathrooms with two beds each, nightstand, wardrobe, hot water, wifi, including two meals a day from Monday to Friday.
The price per guest is Q1500.00 per week if there is only one person in the room. If there are two guests in the room, the price per person is Q.1300.00 per week. All fees are paid directly to me, the homeowner.
