Marta Flores

Hola, I'm Marta Flores. I'm 51 years old and have more than 20 years of teaching Spanish-as-a-second leanguage. I have three children and one 7-year old granddaughter. They are my source of happiness and unconditional love. My granddaughter lives with me and represents my legacy and second opportunity to relive Life.

   
My dream is to own my own home, complete my studies in psychology and have a stable and fulfilled life. I want to watch my children achieve their goals and be happy. I also want to support the women in my community, who, like me, have suffered domestic violence from their spouses.   
 

I live in Jocotenango, The name of my town means “the place where Jocotes (a delicious, sweet local fruit) are abundant.” It's a popular place to live because it's very close to Antigua, Guatemala. Also in the surrounding area are several types of plantations raising coffee, legumes, and corn.  Local artesans who work in wood, bronze and iron attract both national and international tourists.    
 

I consider myself to be an optimistic, sensible, empathetic and determined woman who works hard to reach my objectives. In my profession I love to meet new people from all over the world and talk with them about their country, culture and language. Of course we talk about my beautiful country Guatemala and its richness in culture, nature, economics. In part through our conversations over these topics, we will establish clear objectives and use various, creative methods to learn Spanish. 

 
In my free time, I love to take bicycle rides or walk with my family and my dog, learn new new things, listen to music or read a good book.
 

Being a Spanish teacher is profoundly meaningful work because we not only teach the language, we expose our cultural identity and thought processes. It is an enriching and deeply human activity.  

  
My virtual classes are one-hour sessions using Google Meet and/or other common platforms. I also teach face-to-face classes if you´re visiting the Antigua, Guatemala area. We can arrange classes to meet your schedule. I look forward to working with you.

Terms and Conditions: You and your instructor will agree on the payment method and terms (duration of class, schedule, frequency, etc). If you choose to prepay for a package of classes, you must complete all prepaid sessions within three (3) months from the date of the last class in which you participated. That is if during the period of your prepaid classes there is a three (3) month or longer pause in instuction, you will lose the right to continue with your prepaid package of classes-- unless you and your instructor had previously agreed in writing to an extended pause in instruction. Communication with your instructor is essential!
